A Community of Believers

There’s a place for you!

We’re so glad you’re interested in Living Word Free Lutheran Church! One of the major aspects of living a Christian life is being involved in Christian community together. As we follow and love Jesus, we learn to love our community even deeper.

You can find several ways to get involved within our church community below. While the order below is a recommended process, these steps don’t necessarily have to be taken in this order.

Membership is not a requirement at Living Word, but it does allow you vote and participate in congregational meetings and serve on Church Council.

We love to have individuals and families in the congregation join us in serving the Lord. Examples of opportunities include serving meals at The Banquet, teaching Sunday School, volunteering at Vacation Bible School, involvement on the Worship Team or as a Greeter.

Interested in Becoming a Member?

You don’t have to be a member to be valued and actively involved at Living Word Free Lutheran Church, however, the privileges and responsibilities of membership are valuable:

  • While non-members may attend congregational meetings, one needs to be a member of the church in order to vote.
  • Consideration at congregational meetings regarding areas such as budget, staffing, mission, vision and core values
  • Eligibility to serve on the church council, the leadership group elected by the congregation each year
  • Full attendance and voting privileges at the Annual Conference of the AFLC, our larger church body

Our process for becoming a member is tailored to your needs. Time is spent together with the pastor examining the basic doctrines of Christianity and answering any questions about ministries or programs in the congregation. After meeting with the pastors, the Deacon Board brings your name forward to the congregation to be received as a member during a congregational meeting.
